The Community Outreach Department at SADVC provides educational
presentations throughout Yolo County. Topics of presentations are focused on issues pertaining to domestic violence and sexual assault. We can tailor our educational presentations to serve your needs. Presentation times range from 15 minutes (general SADVC services information) to 16 hours. Below is a list of just a few of the presentations we offer:
- Elementary School Education: presentations provided to children grades K - 5. These presentations are age specific and focus on respect for one's self and others.
- Teen Education Program: SADVC employs one full time Teen Educator. The Teen Education Program is focused on dating violence, rape/sexual assault and personal responsibility. Presentations provide information on where to go for help if you have been assaulted and how to reduce your risk of being assaulted.
- College Presentations: The educational presentations provided for college classes provide information on domestic violence, sexual assault and the effects of domestic violence on children.
- Domestic Violence Education: Presentations include the Cycle of Violence, types of abuse, local resources for victims of domestic violence, and how to help a friend in an abusive relationship.
- Rape Reduction Education: Presentations provide information as to: what rape is, types of sexual assault, rape in marriage, what to do if you are a survivor of rape/sexual assault, local resources, and how to help a friend who has been raped/sexually assaulted.
- Suspected Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training: Under a grant provided by Children's Hospital in San Diego and the Office of Child Abuse Prevention, SADVC provides training for mandated reporters of suspected child abuse. Trainings range in time from one hour to four hours.
- Business Presentations: Information is provided on how to assist employees who may be in a domestic violence relationship. Assistance is provided on how to modify human resource policies to include provisions for domestic violence to ensure your business is in compliance with current domestic violence in the workplace laws.
- Church Presentations: Presentations are provided to church groups or to congregations during church services. These presentations provide information on domestic violence, where to go if you are a victim of domestic violence and how to help a friend who is in a domestic violence relationship.
All presentations can be presented in English or Spanish.
