The CARE Team is made up of trained advocates who respond to reported sexual assaults in Yolo County. They provide accompaniment, crisis intervention, and peer counseling for survivors of sexual assault during the evidentiary exam and law enforcement interviews. Advocates are also the gateway through which the survivor can access many other community resources, including other SADVC services.
The SADVC CARE Team and advocates from UC Davis's Campus Violence Prevention Program make up the advocacy component of the Yolo County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). The SART is a multidisciplinary team that also includes law enforcement, health care providers, the District Attorney, and mental health services. Members join together to provide this 24-hour response so that the process of reporting sexual assault is as effective and supportive to survivors as possible.
